Reminder: You are under no obligation to play by anyone else's rules.
Most of us don't remember a time before the noise of the internet (& Twitter) meant every time you scroll you see another influencer or person with a social media account telling you how you should be doing everything in your life.
📢 Look this way, do your work that way, grow your following this way, don't do that, don't say that. It can be easy to try and squeeze ourselves into the mould of what other people say is the right way to do things.
But what I've found is I'm much happier when I play by my own rules, rather than trying to fit into somebodies else's life & expectations.
Pay Attention. There is actually so much vying for our attention that we actually pay little attention to ourselves. What brings us joy, what are we resisting, what do we love, what don't we love. Wake up and pay attention. You are the best judge of what is right for you.
Conduct experiments. I'm not saying there is not good information out there. Listen, absorb and then adjust it to you personally. When someone gives you advice, treat it as an experiment. Set a time frame & test it out on yourself. If it works - great keep going. If not, stop doing it. You're not a bad person because the guru's advice wasn't right for you.
Fail a lot. It's a sign that you're learning. You're learning to trust yourself. You're learning what works specifically and personally for you. Because you are a unique human being on this planet - similar to others... but not exactly like anyone else.
So go forth and do you, you beautiful human!
