Sometimes it's not what you say, but what you do that counts.
Scrap that. It's always about what you do that counts more than what you say. I often get messages from people saying they were inspired to start shipping because of my example. And mostly they are people I had no idea were even reading any of my essays.
And as much as I know my essays are good (& full of wisdom) I know it's not the content that makes the biggest impact.
If you're like me and keen to make an impact, the good news is that it has nothing to do with your content. The bad news is that it has everything to do with just showing up. Let me explain.
The Good News: It's not about your content
Sometimes we put so much effort into the messaging of our essays, trying to find our niche, focused on how many people like this essay or gave critical feedback on that essay.
But sorry to say but, people will forget that one great thread you wrote. They'll forget that essay that took you 3 hours to meticulously publish.
But they will never forget how you just keep showing up day after day
The Bad News: It's All About Showing Up
Ok, you can choose to receive this as bad or good news. I choose it as good news. You don't need to worry so much about your niche, your content buckets, or that one single essay you're writing today. You certainly don't have to chase 'virality.'
All you have to do to make an impact is show up today. Then show up tomorrow, and so forth. You will be surprised at the impact you can make.
