Today is a very special kind of day.
Over the next 24 hours or so, new creators everywhere will start their ship30 journey. Committing to write 30 Essays in 30 days. Committing to the journey of writing and creating on the internet. They have all made a decision to stop wishing and to start publishing.
There are many reasons that day-1ers begin this journey. For some it's to understand themselves and the world, for others it's to finally find their voice or to indulge their lifelong quest of learning. Whatever the reason, today they will hit publish, and for that, you are already heroes.
Because for every one that hits publish, there are hundreds more who won't. It takes courage and grit and determination to decide you are going to put your ideas out there on the internet for all the world to see. What if people don't like it, what if I get heckled, what if it's just bad or people don't care?
But today you will join a long lineage of day 1 publishers who dared to believe that the world should hear what you have to say.
So as I embark on my 4th cohort, here is my best & briefest advice:
👉 Enjoy the process. Just fall in love with writing & it will never feel like a chore.
👉 Don't box yourself in. Have an idea about a totally random essay? Write it.
👉 Reduce your expectations. You don't have to expect anything else than to just build a writing habit.
👉 Just Focus on today. Just ship today and tomorrow will take care of itself.
So day 1-ers. Well done to you all for throwing your hat in the ring and getting some skin in the game today. Every person who publishes today is my hero.
